Congratulations on a huge victory by Queen Blossom yesterday. She proved that the 12 furlong distance is what she has been looking for, and notched the 2nd G3 win of her career, and her first win since coming to the US in 2016.
Queen Blossom broke slow, and I was worried we could get a repeat of her last race. However, Flavien Prat let her ease over the rail, and steadily progress up the rail as they entered the main track from the downhill portion. She got into a wonderful stalking position just off the lead. Once they neared the far turn, Flavien angled her out, and once she got in the clear in the stretch she moved strongly to the lead. She ended up winning by about a 1/2 length, and was still going strong 1/16th past the wire.
Richard Baltas. made a great decision to send her down to San Luis Rey, and I think the more relaxed atmosphere agreed with her. She is already back at San Luis Rey, and will continue to use that as her base for the remainder of the racing season.
